Our Building Audit Team: Randy D. Down, PE - Electrical, Mechanical, Fire Over 30 years of experience in electrical, mechanical and control systems engineering for a broad range of industrial, institutional, municipal and commercial applications.  During his career he has served as a lead design engineer, project manager, engineering group manager, forensic engineer and technical consultant. His forensic engineering experience has included fire and explosion causation analysis, electrical and mechanical systems failure analysis, and electrical and mechanical product defect analysis. Over the course of his career he has worked for system manufacturers, as well as consulting engineering & architectural firms.  He is licensed as a professional engineer in eleven states and certified nationally as a fire and explosion investigator.   He is an author and contributing author for several nationally published textbooks on environmental control systems and instrumentation and has presented papers internationally on the application of environmental control systems.     Mr. Down is a Certified Professional Engineer in North Carolina, Virginia, Georgia, Pennsylvania, Indiana, New York, New Hampshire, Wisconsin, Maine, Delaware and Nevada.  Ron Bittler, PE - Structural, Civil Over 15 years of experience in structural, civil and design work for a very wide range of public, private and commercial applications. He has performed engineering work for the Maryland State Highway Administration, consulting engineering firms, construction companies, and several forensic engineering companies and his professional experience includes inspection, design, construction, analysis, evaluation and consulting, primarily with the structural systems.  Mr. Bittler has been performing forensic structural engineering inspections for over 10 years, with projects ranging from simple foundation cracks to substantial multi-level strucural failures.
